Cyrus II of Persia, commonly known as Cyrus the Great, was the founder of the Achaemenid Persian Empire. While he expanded the empire during his reign, he also had a reputation for being tolerant of other cultures and faiths.

Cyrus is best remembered for commissioning the earliest known declaration of human rights in the 6th Century BCE. This sculpture is the king on his throne.
