Item No. 1330

This is a ritoun, or drinking vessel, that was originally made for Persian kings ca. 500 BC.  This one features a lion's head, though ritouns featuring bulls were common in this period as well.

From this figure you can see the popularity of winged creatures in Persian culture and religion at the time.  The faravahar is also a well-recognised symbol from this period.

This figure measures 2.75" x 1.5" x 3.75" (7 x 4 x 9.5 cm).  Shipping weight 2.50 pounds.
